We have all heard the stories of our grandparents, who were in the military and stationed in horrible little outposts in the middle of nowhere, and the creepy stories of strange phenomena they may have experienced. Now, you can experience those same feelings in Abtos Covert.

Abtos Covert is an immersive blend of psychological tension and strategic survival, along with spooky jump scares. This thriller is developed by a small indie team named Team Abtos and published by Iphigames, both of which hail from Athens, Greece. In the game, you take on the role of a Greek soldier who happens to pull the short straw and get stuck on the night shift, watching over a small remote outpost known as Abtos Covert Outpost, located in the deep forest of Mount Aptos.

In this run-down outpost, it will be your job to keep an eye on its security and monitor the place for any suspicious activities or enemies. Armed with your trusty flashlight, video monitoring equipment, and even a few motion sensors, you may feel safe. But have you heard of the stories of all the unexpected things happenings in this eerie place?

When the game starts, you will be provided with a brief tutorial from your commander, who will tell you how to use the video system and the motion sensors to catch any ghosts, goblins, or even stray deer that may walk into camp.

Heard that weird bump in the night? Run to the roof and turn on the spotlights to scare off any would-be intruders. Just remember that the nighttime generator only has so much power until the morning, as every choice you make could plunge you into lethal darkness. Luckily, you only have to watch the outposts for a few nights, so what could go possibly wrong?

Abtos Covert has a very atmospheric sound dynamic that is sure to keep you on your toes, as each unique sound could alert you to something hiding in the darkness. Each sound, whether it’s the turning on of a radio, the scream of a teapot in the middle of the night, or even the snorts of a wild animal, is enough to make you question your sanity.

As you wander around the outpost and surrounding areas, you will begin to unravel the mystery of the outpost from clues left behind by previous soldiers who survived the night. Each night will become more difficult than the last, as each new enemy you encounter will have a distinctive pattern of behavior. Adapt and learn to survive, or freak out and perish. Will you survive, or will you become the next cautionary tale?

Abtos Covert is set to be released on Steam, December 8th.
