I’m not really into extraction shooters, but i gave this one a proper shot. What killed it for me was how the map exits aren’t randomized, so you’d have people doing the objective while others just sit and camp the exits, waiting to ambush and steal rewards. It happens way too often and completely ruins the flow of the match. It’s a shame, because there’s a good idea underneath all that frustration.
Now this is one stressfully good game. Hunt Showdown is a great mix of pvp and pve where every match is a small horror story. You get to hunt monsters for rewards, but at the same time, other players are hunting both you and the same monster you are after, and because of this, you have to make every move count. I like how slow and careful the game is, because one wrong move can end your run and make you lose your hunter. The sound design is amazing, I would say, if not the best then one of the best in all games. This is why half the game is just listening for footsteps, gunshots, or crows flying away. It can be brutal and stressful, but when you survive and extract with a bounty, it feels amazing.
This game will put anyone on the edge. You always need to watch your back because you will never know who is stalking you to kill you. It’s highly competitive. It will put your skills and patience to the test. Guns are cool and varied with shotguns, handguns, sniper rifles, etc. I sometimes experience some disconnection but that is ok since most of them are from my side and few from the game. There are also campers but you can always leave the match and find others that are fair and equal.
A good game that suffers from the same problems you will find in many other competitive online games.
I love the game playing it on duos coop with my friend, it’s challenging but rewarding. Playing solo can be quite boring, but coop is perfect. Shooting is fun.
