Icarus Adds Free Build Tool and Improves the Building System

Modding support is also under way.

It has been thirty-one weeks since the release of the space survival game Icarus. The developers over at RocketWerkz are still going strong with their weekly updates to the game. This week is a pretty interesting one for both builders and the modding community.

If you ever felt limited by the grid based building of Icarus then you will be pleased to know they have added a free placement function. You can now place objects freely wherever you want and even raise or lower the height of the object. It still needs to be supported like normal, so no floating builds.

But maybe this can change? The developers will be releasing more information that will help modders to create mods a lot easier than before. This will both be great for players who like to play with mods as well as developers as this provides them with a more in-depth explanation of bugs and crashes when they occur.

A few new and old building objects have been added to the game as well. Thatch double doors and windows have been added alongside a few new wall types like glass and aluminum.

RocketWerkz has also provided some details about their upcoming Icarus DLC. Even though you would expect a vehicle to be added to the game, the developers will start off with mounts since they can fit nicely into their animal system. So by the sounds of it, vehicles can be added later down the line as well. We can expect to hear more about the first paid DLC in one of the future game live streams.

What are you most excited about in the new update? Let me know in the comments.
