Keen Games has released the fourth major update for their popular survival RPG, Enshrouded. The Souls of the Frozen Frontier expansion adds a new area, a variety of new resources, higher level caps, and the ability to have farm animals.

The Albaneve Summits is a large map expansion consisting of a mountain biome that stretches across the northern reaches of Embervale. In order to get here, you have to travel through the Nomad Highlands or the Kindlewastes. The Albaneve Summits is a new end-game area, meant for the strongest Flameborn, so make sure to gear up well before making the journey to the North.

It feels like Christmas came early, as this new region is a winter wonderland. You will find vast icy lakes and rivers and terrain that is covered in deep blankets of snow and tall mountains.

Around these cliffs, you find powerful updrafts that you can use while gliding to get to a higher elevation or to stay in the air longer so you can float further. It is also a great way to see the new flora from above and stay out of harm’s way as you observe the newly added creatures that roam in these mountains.

The Albaneve Summits are home to a few new resources. These can be used to craft stronger gear if you are high enough level, which has been raised to 35. This will make your life easier when you take on the quests given to you by some of the new townsfolk you can meet.

Ores are not the only thing you can bring home from the icy mountains. A new friendly creature named the Eking can be found, and these animals can be taken to your settlement after being tamed. They provide new materials and can be pet.
