Keen Games Reveals Major Changes Ahead of Enshrouded’s Water Biome Launch

Guess why the new update got delayed.

Keen Games has laid out a clear plan for Update 7, Wake of the Water. The team took a step back to evaluate how these systems fit together and identified several areas that needed attention. The changes aim to refine item and combat systems after a year and a half of steady additions.

A weapon overhaul is at the heart of the update. The team checked every weapon to make sure what a weapon looks like and what it does actually match. One concrete example is the Ice Coated Daggers. Their name and look suggested ice damage, but their stats did not. After the changes those daggers will deal pierce and ice damage and gain extra ice perks when upgraded. Armor, rings and some food items are also getting tuned. Durability has been raised across the board and now scales with item level and rarity. If you already own a weapon it will keep its old stats. The new numbers will apply to items picked up after Update 7 goes live.

Another change gives players more control over rare finds. Any lore weapon you have unlocked can now be crafted at any stage of the game. That means if you loved an early game Wailing Blade you can craft a stronger version once you out level the original. Craftable lore weapons will be available for every weapon type so different classes and play styles are supported. This should help players who have been unlucky with drops.

Enemy loot has also been expanded. New weapons have been added to enemy drop pools. From large swords like the Fell Thunderbrute Greatsword to brutal tools like the Scavenger Acid Cleaver, these weapons can now be looted from foes. Drop quality will scale with enemy level and range from common up to legendary.

Keen is closing a long running chest exploit at the same time. Chests will now save their looted state so reloading the game or restarting a server will not let you try the same chest again. Chest contents will still respawn eventually the way they were originally meant to.

There is a change aimed at players who prefer magic. A simple early mage spell called Fire Bolt will be added. It is a single target quick cast spell that you can craft with low requirements. Once you find bones and resin you can craft your first staff and the first spell. That should make starting a mage build less painful.

Combat recovery is being rebalanced too. The team found that high regeneration made it easy to shrug off fights by stepping away and waiting. Health regeneration will be reduced, and stamina and mana regeneration will be slightly lowered as well. The goal is to make health and resources something you prepare for with potions and meals. At the same time the update opens the door to bring back regeneration as a reward from other choices so players who invest in those stats still have options.

The developers aimed for an October release of the new Enshrouded update, but it had to be slightly delayed. If you’re wondering why, implementing water properly created more work than expected. The new water feature caused bugs and unexpected system interactions that required additional time to fix. To give Wake of the Water the polish it deserves, the release is now set for November 10, 2025. Luckily, we won’t have to wait long for what may be the most exciting content drop since the game’s Early Access launch.
