I really wanted to love Last Oasis. The concept was unique, the walking cities and nomadic survival idea felt super fresh. For the first few hours, the game gave me that “wow” feeling, but unfortunately, it was downhill from there.
The biggest issue? Mega tribes. They completely dominated the game, ruining any chance of survival for solo players or small groups. Tons of people raised concerns about this, but instead of balancing things, the devs seemed to encourage it. Mega tribes were essentially untouchable, and the devs supported them, giving them influence and even more power. The game quickly became unplayable for anyone not in a 20+ member clan.
My own experience? We had a cheater living next to us – an “alpha tester” with access to the dev-only discord. He’d use the rope mechanic to fly around like a cracked-out Spiderman, exploiting every system. He attacked us daily for hours, and if we ever managed to trap him, he’d glitch under the map. We reported him constantly, both in discord and through the proper channels, but nothing was done. It was obvious he had immunity, and the devs turned a blind eye. Meanwhile, we were left to get steamrolled repeatedly.
Solo players and tiny clans (less than 5 people) stood no chance. Unless you hugged the edge of the non-pvp zones near NPC towns, survival was impossible. The big tribes did the same – they’d dip into pvp just to wreck others and then run to safety.
And don’t get me started on grind migration system. On paper, it was cool. In practice? Total chore. You had to move all your stuff every few days in these giant convoys. Most players hated it. Eventually, only the most dedicated members kept doing the heavy lifting, while everyone else just stopped caring.
Cool concept, awful execution.
This game has amazing designs, landscapes, everything. The idea is unique and so far in my experience is one of a kind, I started playing this game and I fell hard in love with this game. I started a clan found awesome people to play with and we built a pretty cool community with people from alot of countries. Trust me when I say this game is amazing. If you like this genre, you can give it a chance.
This game has the special grappling hook and players can feel like a spiderman moving swiftly while flying in the desert attached to a wing-suit and operating machines. The fighting and melee style is something I’ve never experienced before while playing 2000 games on Steam. It takes time to learn all the steps for new players, as I took about 2 hours to learn the basics of the game.
I like Last Oasis as their updates and fixes are super effective. I’ve played this game for about 100 hours already.
Last Oasis gets a lot of hate from those outside the community and inside their player-base. However, if you’re looking for something completely different than you’ve ever experienced before, this may well be it. From Grapple Hook swinging like spiderman to flying high above the desert with a wingsuit to operating machinery like you’ve never seen before the game is packed full of Unique and Original ideas. The combat style is directional melee such as that of “For Honor” and “Mount and Blade” which is desirable to some and difficult for others. Water, as you may have guessed from the title, is the key resource that powers your equipment and keeps you alive. This game is a must experience for anyone who is a fan of PvPvE Survival Crafting and really breaks-the-mold when it comes to games.
