Developer Tim Venekamp has released a major update to his Dutch folklore-inspired survival game Little Hats.
The new update focuses on making the world feel more alive and easier to traverse.
A few new human NPCs are scattered around the world going about their day. They can interact with each other and other people talking about what is going on in the area and expanding upon the game’s lore.
Two new ways to traverse the world have been added. A horse-drawn carriage will take you around the map safely from enemies. For traveling across the rivers you can climb aboard a ship that can take you upstream.
The developer added some new additions to the Steyndike maze. There are different sounds to follow leading you either to the safety of the exit or into a dangerous troll camp if you follow the wrong one. There are new landmarks also from small camps to the corpses of travelers who did not find the exit making it easier to find your way out of the maze.

The world got a graphical upgrade making it feel more alive and realistic. The tree models have been replaced with new ones, and will now cast a shadow making it way darker when wandering through a forest. Ores and rocks will now crumble when destroyed instead of just disappearing. Some of the chimneys in towns now have smoke coming from them. The Steyndike maze has more overgrown rocks and foliage around making it more atmospheric. The player now has a jump-land animation.
The first of the achievements is here. There are 25 in total and require you to do things like ride a deer or drink a potion. There is a new easter egg hidden somewhere in the game as well, can you find it?
How do you like all the new improvements? Let me know in the comments.
