I jumped into Lost Rift expecting the typical early-access curve, but i’ve got to hand it to the devs -> they’ve been really quick to listen and act. After some community posts pointing out weird enemy spawns and laggy transitions or people camping exit points, the next patch rolled out modeling exact fixes we asked for. Suddenly, i felt like i was discovering the game all over again: the archipelago felt sharper, loot routes smoother, and even the base-building system got cleaner in two updates.
What stands out the most is how active developers are in their community, You’ll see them in the Discord daily, actually responding to player feedback instead of just posting vague patch notes. It feels like they’re genuinely building this game with the players rather than around them, which is refreshing. The recent updates didn’t just fix bugs -> they also changed the pacing of exploration and crafting, making the overall experience flow much better. It’s one of those rare cases where patch notes actually matter.
The game still isn’t perfect, of course. Some systems feel half-baked, and there are moments where you can tell it’s still finding its footing – especially in PvPvE balance and enemy scaling. But even with that, it’s easy to see that Lost Rift is heading in the right direction.
If you played it at launch and bounced off, this is your cue to reinstall. It genuinely feels like a new experience with all the weapon changes, nerfing ai enemies etc. And it’s great to see an EA game grow this quickly and transparently. I wouldn’t call it flawless yet but i’d absolutely call it promising -> and that’s more than i can say for a lot of survival titles out there.
Went on a trip to the PvP island. I got my inventory full of loot and was ready to extract. As i approached the harbor, I saw a duo with guns camping the exit. By the time i realized how loud it is walking through bushes, they were already looking for me. In pure panic, i hid behind a rock – literally holding my breath IRL while praying they wouldn’t find me. One of them even stood right on top of that rock. After 3 minutes of tense searching, they gave up and i crouched my way to another exit. The game has flaws – ugly building system, missing features – but moments like this bring back those good old Rust vibes. Been solo so far, but once my team joins in, I’m sure it’ll get even better.
This game is extremely unbalanced. I get that they wanted to try something new in the survival genre, but in my opinion it just doesn’t work. The mix of extraction looter and sandbox survival feels messy and the base building looks downright ugly. In most survival games, part of the fun is grinding PvE for resources so you can slowly build up and progress. Here, you’re just thrown straight into a death pit, scrambling to get anything at all while groups of players wipe you instantly. After that, they get bored, quit and never come back. It’s a neat idea on paper but the execution really misses.
