Since the recent release of I am Future into early access, players were curious about the future of the game, and asked many interesting questions.
Some of the things we will be able to do in the future are that we will also have the ability to interact with and maybe even destroy the annoying pest-producing plants, as well as other utilizing other natural sources of energy other than just biofuel. We will also have the ability to patch those annoying holes in the roof of the buildings.
There were a few things that were asked that we found out were not going to be an option at this time, such as jumping, as the level design just won’t allow certain areas to be restricted if you could just jump over them. One of the most requested features that is not currently going to make it into the game is mod support. Due to the developers wanting to do further research and gain a little bit more experience before implementing that feature, it is not ruled out. Also, there is no co-op planned for the game.
Now on to crafting and exploration. Some larger storage areas for such things as wood, Sheetmetal, and glass, along with a water tank to store fresh water are going to make an appearance. The ability to rebuild previously disassembled items is in the works, and they even plan to release a pack of decorative construction items to fill out our rooftop. They have expressed that even though we will not be able to build a house of our own, they will add more content, allowing us to make our rooftop paradise a little more comfortable and cozy.

The map is going to increase in size as production continues on the game, allowing us to explore more rooftops and expeditions of the world around us, as well as even be able to enter and explore the insides of the buildings and even meet a few other human characters that might still be out in the world. The little robotic minions will see some increased usage other than just refilling things.
Click and move support is still being worked on, along with an Italian translation for the game, and even a Mac version is planned for the 1.0 release of the game.
And lastly, a little bit about the background of the game and the inspiration itself. It’s pretty easy to tell by the title that the game was inspired by the movie I Am Legend, starring Will Smith, but the head of the studio, Eugene, moved from the big city to a small country house during the COVID-19 pandemic, and while there, he had the idea of creating a post-apocalyptic game that had a positive and cozy feeling, where you could have a little quiet place of your own to get away from the city and be surrounded by beautiful nature.

As seen in the I Am Legend movie, the main character is not just surviving but trying to live a semblance of normal life by going grocery shopping and even listening to Bob Marley on his record player.
I think the art style of the game captures those qualities quite well. Speaking of the inspiration behind the artwork, they say it was from viewing physical dioramas with destroyed houses overgrown with greenery and half submerged in water that appeared.
Incredibly beautiful to them and hadn’t really been expressed in other games.
The main character of the story is built by using the main characteristics of each of the team members of Mandragora. They stated that there are some Easter eggs in the game but did not tell us what any of them might be, so keep your eyes peeled for them and for an updated release schedule as they work on more content and game mechanics on their roadmap.
