Ambitious survival game worked on primarily by one person. The idea behind the game is great, and I love the fact that the enemies aren’t just “Zombies” but actually something far worse (The inclusion of some alien monsters is also very welcome). If this game ever gets finished it will probably one of the good of its genre. But it needs time and more development. You can give it a chance.
Even though Mist Survival is still an early access game, it is one tense and immersive experience. The desolate atmosphere and hardships of survival in a world shrouded in mist create an environment where every decision carries weight and consequence.
Graphically, the game captures the eerie desolation perfectly. The attention to detail in the environment and the subtle fog contribute to the overall atmosphere, creating a dangerous and deserted world in which you have to fight and struggle in order to survive.
The gameplay mechanics are tough, demanding from you strategic thinking and resourcefulness above all. You have to scavenge for supplies fight off hostile threats and stay on the move, it offers a relentless experience. Crafting system is good, it adds a certain depth to it, requiring from you to carefully consider priorities and adapt to the dynamic challenges that are presented by both the environment and hostile encounters.
Something that I noticed and liked is the games’ ruthlessness. The game doesn’t offer much guidance or restriction. You are thrown into this world and you need to do everything you think is needed in order to survive, this also allows you to navigate the unforgiving reality of this world on your own terms. Since there isn’t much of handholding, it will have a steep learning curve, and you will probably die a couple of times, but that’s just normal experience.
But there are some downsides to this game. Since it is an early access game, you can expect to encounter some bugs and glitches during your gameplay, but that is expected, and the devs have been working on fixing it and optimizing it. On the other hand the game has been in early access for too long and there were no significant improvements in quite some time, and because of this sadly I can not recommend you buying this game, which is a shame because the game has a lot to offer and huge potential.
Mist Survival provides a different take in the zombie survival genre. Gather, craft, look for a safe place before the mist rolls in. A combination of zombies and hostile NPC’s does give the game a bit more of a challenge and keeps you on your toes when exploring. Overall, it’s a good game. I just wish updates would come in more frequently.
This was played on my low end pc with a 1650 super so perhaps these performance problems would be less on better pcs but that’s my experience. Overall, I enjoyed the game a ton. I will definitely be playing more and hopefully co-op comes sooner than later!
I love the game and know it’s being made by a 3 man team, so updates and content is slow moving. After the last major patch things are a lot better for sure, and worth another look.
Being single player in the modern gaming world is a missed opportunity. Hopefully, they will implement this soon as it’s missing something and is harsh for a single player to progress, without a heavy grind.
This being said it is worth a look and keep an eye out on their discord for updates, etc.
This game has been in early access for a while now and I think that developers are taking too much time adding new content. I think the game is pretty fun in general but slow in development.
