The Breach Studios is working on their newly announced survival crafting game Westlanders, a Wild West adventure set to release into Early Access on Steam in 2026.
The developers recently shared first look into something that might sound small but matters a lot in their game: the Wagon. The team describes it as more than a mount or a truck. It is where you store gear, craft tools and choose how to travel through the game world.
Players will be able to build and use their own wagons or ride with others, and the developers plan to add several wagon types over time. Each one will have different stats, a unique campsite layout and slots for attachments. Those differences are meant to change how you prepare and move between settlements.
One simple feature that stood out is campsite deployment. It will allow players to stop, set up camp and quickly place portable workbenches, a campfire or a bedroll. The game will have drag and drop items feature to arrange the space before you move on. The goal is to keep a trip from becoming a slog and makes packing a real choice.
The devs also push the idea that planning matters, where picking the right wagon and packing for the terrain can decide whether an expedition succeeds. Resources are not endless and the map will force you to think about what to take and what to leave behind.
Beyond mechanics, the developers treat the Wagon as part of the story. They call it the lifeblood of the journey, a mobile home shaped by the players who use it. The team is going to collect community feedback to guide changes while the game grows in Early Access.
But the wagon is just one of the features we can expect in Westlanders, with more things to be revealed as the game develops.
