Cyancook Games has revealed that they are working on their newest game, Peaks and Tides, an open world survival crafting game with a physics-based twist that gives you plenty of freedom to interact with the world around you.
The game is set in a fantasy land inspired by Eastern mythology, where you can explore alone or team up with friends in co-op. Crafting will be different from what you are used to in other survival games. While it seems like the basic tools are still here, you will be able to fuse anything you find with whatever you have. This can lead to normal weapons, like a rock on a stick, but you could switch out the stone for a berry and make an entirely new creation. This is very similar to one of Nintendo’s games, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. To make this the main mechanic in the game, the developers had to ensure that everything had physics and would interact with each other. So every burning item would light wood on fire, and heavy materials would need to deal more damage.

The best part is that this fusing mechanism is not limited to handheld tools. You will be able to build whatever you can imagine, like a huge driving siege tower made by combining a few planks and other materials. To bring this system to a whole other level, the devs even extended it to the world around you. You will be able to craft special devices that change the landscape, for example, creating large pillars to use as a bridge or smashing through a massive boulder. You will need to use these powers to their fullest as you explore the world and seek to survive in Of Peaks and Tides.
What are your first impressions of the game? Let me know in the comments.
