Palworld starts off really fun. The creatures are exciting, and collecting them is reminiscent of Pokémon. However, the game quickly becomes repetitive once you start building your base and setting up automation with your Pals. The systems start to feel more like management work than actual gameplay, and there isn’t much story or progression to keep things fresh after that. Overall, it is fun for a while, but it does not hold up long-term. The game is still worth trying if you enjoy survival crafting games with friends. 5/10
Palworld is a game that combines exploration, survival, and creature capture in a fairly large open world. The most fun part is catching Pals and using them to help you work on your base, fight, or explore. It has some crazy moments because it combines adorable creatures with fairly intense combat and survival mechanics. Although it still has some bugs and things to improve, it’s a very fun game, especially if you play it with friends.
Game played during the release window. It was average when released, I think the hyper around the game made it so successful and the idea was genius. Considering that it was the first of its kind in the genre, Palworld has great traits that make the game feel unique.
Loads of Pals to fight, Tame and put to work as you explore and see new environments. At times the exploration part may get boring due to the player doing the same repetitive action.
Fight, Tame and Explore. Palword lacks a strong story drive narrative, which is why it’s only a 7 in my book.
It’s a fun laid back game you can definite play on and off.

Palworld is one of those games that blew up fast and after spending a good amount of time with it, i think i understand why. It’s ot the most complex survival game on the market – in fact, i’d argue the main appeal comes from its simplicity. You don’t have to spend hours planning, micromanaging or studying spreadsheets just to enjoy yourself. Instead, the game leans heavily on repetitive grinding and handful of easy to understand mechanics.
That grinding however, is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it gives the game a loop that’s easy to pick up and keeps you busy without demanding much thought. On the other, it eventually becomes extremely boring. Gathering the same resources, capturing Pals in the same way, and repeating the same tasks over and over again can really wear you down after a while. For players who enjoy that type of mindless progression, it’s probably fine – but for me, it quickly started to drag.
The part i did enjoy the most was the base management system. Assigning proper Pals to different jobs, watching them take care of tasks and slowly expanding your home base adds a sense of growth and progression that’s satisfying, even if it’s not particularly deep. It’s fun in the same way idle or casual games can be fun: simple systems that give you a sense of accomplishment without demanding hardcore effort.
Ultimately, i think the success of Palworld comes from exacly that – it doesn’t try to reinvent the survival genre or overwhelm players with complexity. Instead, it offers a straightforward loop of grind, collect and build that’s easy to get into. Whether or not that grind keeps you hooked depends entirely on how much repetition you can handle. For some it’ll be addictive, for others, like me, it gets old fast.
If you are looking for a straight survival game with base building and critter collection, it is actually NOT it.
You must realize that you will have to really settle in and arrange automated systems. This isn’t entirely clear in the first couple of hours if you’re not paying attention.
But if you are willing to play only part of the game by deliberately not doing that and limiting yourself, then Palworld offers a polished experience unlike titles such as Nightingale where they have clumsy UI, limited tech trees, a lot of pointless resources, etcetera.
Palworld offers a big open world with cliche elements like chests and lore memos to find.
I lost hours roaming this massive world, catching Pals that feel like Pokemon. Some are these cute, cuddly creatures I can’t get enough.. while others are huge, fierce monsters. Every new spot I wander into, whether it’s a sunny meadow or a misty canyon, has different Pals to track down. Nabbing a rare one after a tough fight… anyway I’m always excited to see what’s out there next.
Building bases is just as fun. It’s good to gather stuff and plan a base that feels like home. It’s also like slavery… I’ve got Pals all over the place, some cutting wood, others cooking food, and it makes the whole thing like factory. I’m constantly tweaking it, maybe adding a new wall or moving stuff around to make it work better. It’s like my own little world.
The one thing I don’t like is the guns… Seems like everyone else loves them, but they just don’t click for me. I’d rather stick to catching Pals than shooting stuff… Still, I’m obsessed with exploring, collecting, and building. Every time I jump in, there’s something new to discover.
A genuinely innovative and well executed concept of a game, especially for those that always wanted their Pokemon games with a little more flair. Fun looting and crafting, alongside some entertaining encounters and creature fights. While on the downside it suffers from certain performance issues and over complex areas with spikes in difficulty, and daunting collecting of resources. Yet it is overall a great, refreshing experience.
Palworld is a unique gem in the crowded landscape of open-world survival games, offering an intriguing blend of exploration, creature collection, and survival mechanics. Developed by PocketPair, the game has certainly made waves with its ambitious concept and eye-catching visuals, but does it manage to deliver a satisfying experience?
First off, let’s talk about the core gameplay loop, which revolves around capturing and befriending creatures known as “Pals.” If you’re a fan of games like Pokémon or Monster Hunter, you’ll find a lot to love here. The creature collection system is deeply engaging. Each Pal has its own set of abilities and characteristics, and the game encourages you to experiment with different combinations to tackle various challenges. Whether you’re exploring lush forests, treacherous mountains, or eerie caves, the variety of Pals keeps the gameplay fresh and exciting.
The survival aspects of Palworld are where the game truly shines. Balancing resource gathering, crafting, and building is both challenging and rewarding. The game doesn’t hold your hand, which can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it offers a sense of accomplishment when you finally figure out how to create that perfect item or construct an impressive base. On the other hand, it can be overwhelming for newcomers or those who prefer a more guided experience.
Graphically, Palworld is quite charming. The art style is vibrant and colorful, bringing the world and its inhabitants to life in a way that’s both whimsical and detailed. The character and creature designs are particularly notable, with each Pal having a distinct and memorable look.
However, the game isn’t without its flaws. There have been reports of performance issues, especially on lower-end PCs, which can detract from the experience. Additionally, some players might find the sheer amount of content and systems a bit daunting. It can take a while to get fully immersed and to understand all the mechanics at play.
In summary, Palworld is a refreshing take on the survival genre with its emphasis on creature collection and world-building. While it has its rough edges, particularly in terms of performance and complexity, the overall experience is engaging and worth exploring for those who enjoy a good challenge and a rich, colorful world to dive into.

I hope this review gives a balanced perspective on what to expect from Palworld!
Love the game, that Pokémon vibe is cool, crafting system good enough, open big world, different biomes. The thing is (in Xbox pc app) you don’t have many graphics options, you can’t activate DLSS (at least last time I played it) so I will give another try later, maybe when they add multiplayer server on Xbox pc I don’t know. But it feels like a good minecraft, Pokémon mix. I hope this game survives Nintendo anger and evolves into something else. It’s important to tell, I am not a coop gamer either in crafting games or survivor gamer. My sons fell in love with the game, catching the pals and crafting stuff all over the world, maybe playing all together might be cool but my other computer is an ultra potato lol.
A novel concept combining survival features and buddies that can help u do game stuff. Recommended game if u like pokemon like creatures holding guns.
