Summary
As many will agree and say on this, it is the Spiritual Successor to Diablo 2, an F2P ARGP loved by many. It has a little bit of everything for everyone. Now to get this out of the way is it Pay-to-Win? although some may argue on this, I would like to say it is not, although that is open to debate by some. There is a Microtransaction Store filled with Cosmetic items that you can support Grinding Gear Games on. Although I’ll say this now if you plan on getting into the game for hundreds of hours you might want to purchase the Tabs in the game as it will make your life a lot easier if you plan on playing a ton of this game. The game has 7 Characters you can choose from where they start in different parts of the massive Skill Tree. 6 out of the 7 Characters have 3 sub-classes so this game can be massively overwhelming to some at first. But, all I can say is I felt that way at first and didn’t play it for about a year until I finally gave it a shot and learned a bit by bit, and now I regret missing that year. This game gets updated every 3 months, and not just minor updates MAJOR updates there is a Standard League and a Challenge League. Every 3 months there are balance changes and a big expansion to play and have fun with. There is a Solo self-found and a Hardcore mode for you to play if that is what you like to play. Hardcore means if you die your Character gets sent to the Parent League but you don’t lose it. Solo Self-Found or SSF for short is an Ironman/Stand-alone type of mode you can not group up with anyone nor trade with anyone. More onto the Trading However you can trade with other players and sell the gear or currency you no longer need or want.

Overview
Overall this game is probably one of the best current ARPGs you will find and it’s FREE as well which is even better! Nothing has ever beaten this game in terms of replayability and fun for me. I’ll always have fun with this game and if you’re looking for an ARPG this is the game you won’t regret, I suggest trying it out and having a fun time.
Path of Exile is one of the best free to play games you can find, it has everything from crafting equipment, coop gameplay, dungeons, RPG almost anything basically. Getting into it might be intimidating at first, I definitely had trouble getting into it, I mean just look at the skill tree.
But once you get into it the game really opens up, and If you have crew to play with you’ll get yourself stuck into it, and before you know it you’ll have more than a thousand hours sunken into it!
Jumping into Path of Exile (lets call it PoE ^^) is like stepping into a chaotic, loot-filled carnival where every ride is thrilling ! If you love ARPGs, this game has so much to offer ! The combat is fast-paced, and the loot system is ridiculously addicting, you’ll be smashing through hordes of enemies, picking up gear like a kid in a candy store (and realize half of it doesn’t even fit your build at the end😂)
about the skill tree…. Actually, “tree” is an understatement… the skill whole FOREST : At first, it’s super intimidating ! you try things, think you know what you’re doing, and then bam! You’ve wasted points and have to start over. But once you get the hang of it, the customization is insane. Want to turn your ranger into a lightning mage? Sure, why not. The possibilities are endless, and that’s where PoE shines.
The game world is atmospheric, but let’s be real: the graphics are hit or miss. Some zones are stunning, with creepy vibes and great lighting, but others feel like they’re stuck in the past. It’s not a dealbreaker, though, because the gameplay keeps you hooked ^^
Keep in mind that the sheer amount of mechanics like crafting, currencies, leagues… it will be overwhelming new players ! The inventory management is a pain unless you buy extra stash tabs (free to play, right ?) … Path of Exile 2 just dropped in early access, it seems like it’s taking everything good about PoE and making it cleaner and more modern. Fingers crossed it fixes some of the old game’s clunkiness. so if you can’t jump into PoE2… POE 1 will be a fun ride ^^
Just a better, free Diablo alternative. The game gets constant expansions back to back, each one with new characters, lore, progression, etc.
Great deal of variety and complexity in builds though min/max can get ridiculous on both ends. Graphics and server performance struggles a lot. And once you learn the contents of the game, which are a lot, it doesn’t have that much in variety, just quantity.
I spent a lot of time on this game but I didn’t choose the easiest class for a beginner. I never managed to finish the game. I recommend it for experienced players.
Path of Exile is similar to Diablo 3 and Diablo 4 with less impressive graphics and a skill tree that allows much greater build diversity. I like building and tweaking skills to come up with unique builds. The skill tree is so massive, it can seem over whelming for others who don’t enjoy planning and strategizing their character builds. If you find it overwhelming, the good news is that there is a great community that provides easy to follow build guides. I find myself coming back to play PoE again and again. I’m looking forward to PoE 2’s release and hope it carries on the great game play and flexibility to strategize character builds like PoE has in the ARPG MMO game category.
Path of Exile is a great ARPG game, pretty similar to Diablo, and being free lets anyone try it. Even being old it keeps getting updates and looking good. Graphics are good, with a nice art style, effects and environments. There’s enough variety of classes and many weapons to pick from that can be customized. For people who like to follow story of this kind of games, there are many texts and dialogs.
Path of Exile is Diablo’s more detailed-oriented brother. If you enjoy sinking your teeth into numbers, fine-tuning your build to perfection, then Path of Exile is for you. But if you want something that’s friendlier to pick up and play–and introduce new friends to–then be warned that Path of Exile has a steep learning curve.
Personally, I prefer the more pick-up-and-play style of hack’n’slash. I’ll sink hours into build guides once a game wins me over, but Path of Exile just didn’t.
Path of Exile is a vastly popular ARPG with some MMO elements. Among other similar games, PoE has one of the largest player bases and is highly rated by its fans. Well, I’m one of these fans, although I got introduced to the game quite recently. As good as Path of Exile is, it could be really complicated and hard to get into for a new player. I remember the time when I was intimidated by its humongous passive skill tree to the point when I was consciously avoiding the game altogether (despite having been a veteran of Grim Dawn and Titan Quest). Indeed, the game is multilayered and requires a lot of learning (someone even saying that you need to have a separate PhD to be able to play it). However, the moment I finally decided to try PoE I absolutely fell in love with it. Game has decent graphics (that is for ARPG), its story is well written and voice acted and its gameplay is everything of what the genre should be. My sound advice for new players is to ignore many of the crafting mechanics (like Heist, Delve or Harvest) and to concentrate on moving through the campaign while also learning a bit of how the skill gems are working and trying to experiment with them. Yes, crafting mechanics are powerful tools, but they also can be overwhelming at the beginning of your journey. What I’m saying is that try to learn them gradually, enjoying the game’s tutorial first (which is a campaign). After some tens of hours I’m sure you’ll try to improve your build and that’s when you can appreciate all the complexity of the game. It’s really deep.
Now, let’s talk about why I rated Path of Exile 9 out of 10 instead of giving it 10. You see, one of the alluring features of this game is free to play. But if you continue playing long enough you’ll understand how hard (even impossible) it is to improve your build via crafting without buying various storage tabs for real money. In short, you will just run out of space very fast while going through the endgame. And most annoying of all this is that you can’t just buy the storage you want without overpaying for it. For example, currency tab costs $6 during the discount weeks, however, you can only use $5 or $10 to buy PoE gold (which is used for in-game purchases). You’ve been warned. Now then, if you still deciding if PoE is worth your time and money, I’ll say: try it! Hopefully, your experience will be as pleasant as mine is!
Overall, the game is quite fun with a lot of players who are willing to help you out in the chat. I suffered some time in this game as I was a beginner and decided to ask for help and they did help me so they are kind people.
Path of the Exile came out of nowhere and took the Diablolike community by storm. Offering a much longer game than titles in its category. POE punches way above its weight class, holding its own with triple A titles from Blizzard. That being said, some corners are cut to keep up with that level of competition, PoE Lacks perfect optimization leading to some FPS drops and trouble on lower end PCs. Some of the Graphics are dated and lack lusted but to be frank, in the category of game its in, it really doesn’t need it to shine players wanting the polished thing can go play Diablo and enjoy the 3 hours it only takes to play through it… Poe brings SUBSTANCE to the table instead of a 3 hour playthrough you will repeat thousands of times, you are offered multiple story lines and opportunities to do different things. Don’t let the minor cons stop you from playing this game. If you loved Diablolikes but always got bored after the first few runs, THIS IS THE GAME FOR YOU!!!!
POE has solid and regular updates bringing many bug fixes and content to the game on a regular basis.
Being free to play there really isn’t any reason not to try this game.
Hack and slash, blast and crush your enemies with so many builds available you will never run out of ways to destroy your foes. Jump in as a mage hurling powerful battle magic into entire battalions of enemies. Charge headlong into the fray as a barbarian, cleaving skulls with a mighty swing of your axe. Bring down a torrent of arrows on the leagues of evil punishing all in your wake as archer.
Will you walk the path of the Exile? Or will you turn from your destiny…
Overall, I do think it’s a fun game, plenty of end game content, an active player base, which will gladly lend you a helping hand if you ask something in chat, and a great MMO if you plan to spend some time. The release of new “leagues”, which essentially are new servers that are released seasonally, allows one to not be TOO far behind other players, though the difference will usually be set pretty early on as some people go on a 72 hours binge.
In conclusion, it’s a fun game, controls similar to League, and a definitely recommended MMO for those who either want to meet some people or want to customize their playstyle as stupidly as they wish.
