Polylithic: Everything You Need to Know About Its First Year in Early Access

Multiplayer is coming to this prehistoric survival game!

The prehistoric survival game Polylithic is celebrating its first anniversary in early access. Polyperfect marked the occasion with the release of update 0.7 to close out the year. While this expansion doesn’t introduce major new gameplay mechanics or areas to explore, it focuses on improving the game’s performance. So, if you haven’t played since launch, now is a great time to dive back in, as plenty of new content has been added.

The main campaign has been reworked, featuring a character customization screen, additional quests, and new NPCs to flesh out the world. Most importantly, a brand-new prologue has been created to teach you the mechanics and skills needed to survive.

Also, sandbox mode has been introduced for players who just want to survive or play creatively without following the story. These worlds are randomly generated to keep each playthrough fresh. To enhance this experience, a few new biomes have been added: the jungle, desert, and river.

Hunting has been expanded! You can now dig pit traps for larger animals or tame a wild wolf to help you take down prey or fend off enemies. Similarly, the building system has undergone a major upgrade. In addition to adding new structures for breeding animals and farming, a modular building system has been introduced, allowing you to create custom pens and houses. A milestone system was also implemented, not just to reward players but to guide them on what to work towards next.

Finally, with update 0.7, a new title screen was added, physics were improved, and performance saw a major boost thanks to extensive code reworks. If everything goes as planned, we can expect Polylithic to leave early access by this time next year. Some of the major updates to look forward are the addition of multiplayer and a second story campaign.
