Developed and published by Chicken Launcher, Project: Mist, a mystical co-op survival crafting game, is now ready to launch into Early Access with 180,000 wishlists on Steam, which, according to the developer, were achieved with no marketing.
In the game, players are dropped into a hostile island full of abandoned facilities, strange ecosystems, and hidden dangers. Each area is meant to introduce something new, whether that is an environmental threat, a strange creature, or a space that changes the way the player has to move and fight. The game is designed to make that mistake matter: resources can be lost, progress can be set back, and in the harshest moments, a bad call can cost a run entirely.
Project: Mist supports seamless 1 to 4 player multiplayer, letting players split roles, share supplies, and respond together when danger escalates. That makes the game feel less like a straight solo survival test and more like a system where teamwork can change the outcome. A group can cover more ground, manage supplies more safely, and react faster when the island throws something unexpected at them. At the same time, the game still supports solo play for those who prefer to face the island alone.

One of the most unusual parts of the game is its Gravity Gun, a physics based tool that lets players move objects, control space, and turn the environment into part of the fight. It is not just about throwing debris at enemies. It also affects traversal and can be used to open up new ways of handling combat and movement. That gives Project: Mist a more flexible feel than many survival games, since players are not limited to standard weapons and direct attacks. Instead, they are encouraged to think about what is around them and how the world itself can be used.
The rest of the survival loop is built around familiar systems, but the details help the game stand out. Players can gather resources, craft weapons and tools, cook food, farm, hunt wildlife, and even catch strange bugs and small creatures that can be turned into unusual meals with special effects. Gear upgrades and character growth also play a key role, letting players shape how they explore and how they handle tougher threats over time. The train base adds another layer to that loop, since it acts as a mobile home that can be upgraded, fortified, and customized while the player pushes deeper into the island.
Boss fights and larger creature encounters also appear to be central to the experience. These are not framed as simple action scenes, but as moments that ask for patience and observation. Players are expected to learn behavior patterns, find weak points, and use the environment to survive. That fits the wider design of Project: Mist, which seems built around the idea that the player should not only fight the island, but study it.
Chicken Launcher says the current Early Access version includes the core features shown so far, while future updates will focus on more content, balance changes, and system improvements. The full version is expected to add more bosses, enemies, skills, items, structures, and gameplay systems, alongside better optimization and polish. The studio has also pointed to future ideas inspired by player feedback, including monster riding as one example of where the game could go next.
Project: Mist will enter Early Access on May 19 on Steam for $24.99, with a new multiplayer demo available for players to try.
