Free Range Games, the development team behind Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, has announced what content is coming up next, including the new sandbox mode and difficulty customization, to create the experience you desire.
Probably one of the most impressive feature updates to the game is going to be “Sandbox Mode,” which will allow us to play the game in a whole new way. When creating a new world, you can choose to make it a sandbox. Which will remove the linear story line of the base game and instead play in a completely procedurally generated Moria. Only certain key features, such as the Doors of Durin and Dimrill Gate, are where you would expect them to be.

Everything else in Khazad-dum will be mixed up and on different levels to be found and explored. While exploring, you will come across new kinds of environments and biomes, such as the new Elven biome. As you take on the depths, you will also come across new weapon and armor recipes to find and craft. Sandbox Mode will be returning the game to the roots of underground survival; the deeper you go, the harder it will become.
What are some of the other changes we will see? A new difficulty option will be available to make the game even more hardcore, or easier if it’s too much for you. If you are playing the game solo, you can pause the game in case your dog starts going crazy.

New decorations, such as new lamps, rugs, and furniture, are coming to make your buildings feel more like home. More sound and visual effects during combat. Some new building blocks are coming along, along with reworking the stability system and improving multiplayer connection stability.
And lastly, more details about the upcoming Xbox version, cross-play, and even dedicated server support are still to be revealed. With such a new way to play, it might make Return to Moria a brand-new adventure to delve back into.
