During the future game show at Gamescom 2022, developer Headlight Studio showed a new trailer for their upcoming survival game Rooted along with the announcement they started a Kickstarter campaign to have more
Trailer Breakdown
The trailer starts with a voice being broadcasted over the radio. The voice says people have to stay inside their homes as much as possible and the biological attack will not harm citizens. The streets are empty and you follow a character as he scavenges stores and other locations implying the attack broke out and killed most of the human population. We got a glimpse of one of the friendly robots that can help the player survive, the drone. The trailer ends off with the character infiltrating a human settlement and being shot at. The ending screen lets us know Rooted just launched on Kickstarter and the page was filled with even more information including a possible release date.

What to expect from Rooted
The game is set around the year 2100 when war broke out and bacteriological was used. The attack killed almost everyone on the planet and you are one of the last survivors. Rooted is set a few short years after this war and nature rooted out some of the bacterial problems, Cities and other human-influenced areas are not so lucky and you will need special protection to enter those areas.
You must explore the game’s huge open world in order to survive. Set up camp and scavenge nearby areas to upgrade your home base with defenses and electricity for automation. While exploring the world you can find old machines and other objects you can dismantle. When dismantling something you slowly learn how to craft it yourself, you can also find blueprints scattered around that can teach you how to make it.
When you finished building and you like the look of it you can make it into a blueprint to build it in another location. You can even share your blueprint on the steam workshop for others to download it and use it themselves.

There will be multiple types of enemies. Humans are split into multiple groups, Some people like to survive alone and are known as lone wolves and could be very dangerous, others banded together that will protect their home and will attack yours, Finally, there are also militia groups that are heavily armed and want to spread fear into the survivors. Some animals will be hostile towards the player as well. You can build your own robots to protect and survey the area but so can others. Enemy robots are among the strongest enemies there are.
You will be able to play Rooted with your friends online and the early access release is stated to be released somewhere in early 2024.
What do you think about the ability to share builds through the steam workshop? Let me know in the comments.
