Salt 2: The Next Update will Conclude the Main Story

The pirate story may be coming to an end, but the multiplayer release is not far ahead.

Shiver me timbers, a new Salt 2 update is within our sights. Lavaboots Studios, the development team behind this early access sequel, recently released some morsels of what we might be able to expect in this upcoming update.

One of the major features will be the addition of the third and final act of the main story. We shall see the conclusion of the story of Silvervale Sanctuary. This act will add some new and unique points of interest, weapons, and loot. Along with a handful of new quests while battling the Hand of Chaos.

Another focused and welcomed change is to the crafting system. They have reduced the number of craftable items, as many of the lootable items were better than you could craft, leaving you with a waste of crafted items.

Instead, you will be able to salvage weapons and armor into crafting materials; the higher the rarity of an item, the better the chance to salvage more rare materials. Crafted items will also come with a “Crafting Bonus,” so each crafted item will come with a guaranteed talent, making each item unique.

Also, with the new crafting interface, you can click on any ingredient, and if you can use it in a recipe, it will show you.

Combat improvements are also coming, especially regarding parrying. Parrying difficulty will now be tied to your combat difficulty setting in the game. A small parry indicator will pop up when your parry window starts so that you can learn to predict when to parry an enemy’s attack. The pop-up can also be turned off if you want more of a challenge.

Tracking quests will be easier as you will be able to see the quest coordinates in your journal, and if you have the applicable map, the map will open up, showing you a waypoint to your destination.

Multiplayer is still a work in progress, with a recent focus on syncing dungeons and scene transitions. The co-op system is getting very close to being playable, with many features such as ships, weather, enemies, and loot syncing well.

This update is still a little way off and is looking to be released in about 4 to 6 weeks.
