The developers over at Endnight Games have published a Twitter post announcing the release of the Steam page for Sons of the Forest. The Steam page reveals new details that were not shared before. It includes more information about a new publisher name, the story, and a new changing season mechanic.

Last month Endnight Games revealed that Sons of the Forest was delayed again from late May to somewhere in October. Sadly, it seems like a specific date is still not given.

Sons of the Forest will be published under a new name “Newnight”. The name is of course very close to Endnight, so we can assume they started a new company purely for publishing games. Why they did this is not mentioned, but we can speculate that Newnight might publish games from other developers.

New information about the story has been revealed on the Steam page as well. It tells us why we appear on the island. It was revealed before that a small military looking team was sent to this island; however, we were not given the reason as to why they were sent here. It turns out there is a billionaire on the island that we need to be saving.

It has also been confirmed there will be no “NPC’s barking orders at you”, this will most likely mean the rest of the team will not make the crash landing on the island similar to the first game.

The developers have also revealed that the game will have different seasons. This is new for the series as the previous game had no changing seasons. It’s rarely done in survival games as a whole and looks really interesting. By the sounds of it, during the spring and summer months, food will be plentiful, which means this will most likely also be the time frame in which we start the game. However, as the months go by and it turns to winter food will be harder to get and more cannibals will be out looking for a tasty snack.

As an extra note, a snow location had been shown in an old trailer, but back then we thought it would be the snowy mountains similar to what The Forest had.

This is all the new information that was not revealed before.
