Survival Adventure ‘Tribe: Primitive Builder’ Has Been Released

A unique blend of survival, crafting, settlement building, and mysticism.

Three Polish game developers Space Boat Studios, Polyslash S.A., and Baked Games S.A. set forth on a collaborative game; and together they have built Tribe: Primitive Building, an adventure combining elements of building, city management, exploration, and survival held together in a wrapper of primal mysticism.

As a child, the gods granted you visions of a calamitous future; these visions also imparted to you the knowledge of advanced building techniques. When one of your buildings gets stuck by lightning, your fellow villagers take it as a bad omen from the gods. They tied you up and cast you out into the sea.

Sentenced to your fate on the Isle of the Banished, a home to tribes that live on an island under the specter of an ever-burning volcano, you were rescued from the sea. You will take on the role of a builder, equal to the elders on the island.

Tribe is set on an island that will sport four distinct biomes to discover: Grass Land, your starting biome, is a lush green plain filled with groves of bamboo; Sand Land, which its name implies, is a sandy desert; Stone Land, which is a swampy marsh land with large rocks; and Volcanic Land, a scorched land filled with lava pools. All the terrains

When you start off, you will come across a set of friendly villagers wearing some snazzy masks, and you will have to not only explore your surroundings but also take care of your necessities of life, such as finding ways to eat and drink and even sleep and learn to craft items. And even build structures.

At its heart, Tribe is a settlement-building game. Since you start off with nothing, most of the gathering and building you have to do yourself, but as you begin to build the settlement, you will be able to get other tribe members to join you that can then be assigned an area to work in to help out. Plan ahead, and you might be able to build a thriving village and even establish trade routes to other villages. But expand too quickly, and your village can starve and end up in ruin.

While continuing through the game in story mode, you will frequently encounter intriguing visions. That will unlock more of the story as well as some extra perks.

There are a myriad of tools for you to craft, including a knife, axe, pickaxe, and more, along with 17 different types of buildings to build and 8 different structures. And an open world to enjoy exploring. Per the developers, it would take between 30 and 35 hours to beat the game on average, but if you truly invest in developing each tribe, there is well over 100 hours of content.

The game was initially launched on PC on October 12, 2023, and will launch on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms in the near future.
