Never Wither is preparing for its first technical test, giving players an early look at the game’s first region, the Valley, as it gears up for Early Access later this year.
Developer Geo Seed Games revealed a clearer look at the world of Edda, which the studio says is built around a nature inspired fantasy setting. Early ideas moved through science fiction and history before the studio settled on a world shaped by myth, wilderness, and lost civilizations. The Valley is designed as the first stop for players, with bright forest clearings, darker woods, and quiet ponds that shift in feel between day and night. Farther on, the Plateau introduces a harsher mood, with cliffs, open plains, ancient ruins, and creatures tied to the corrupted World Tree.
Unlike in V Rising, the player is not a traditional hero like the vampire, but a shapeshifting being. This design choice supports the game’s core idea of possessing and taming creatures, many of which can also serve different roles in the world. The developer say they wants each creature to be easy to read by sight and behavior, so players can understand what they are looking at without needing menus or explanations.

As V Rising development is coming to an end, another survival game that draws heavy inspiration from it is stepping in, set to launch a first playtest in just two months. pic.twitter.com/eGVo6sMDT1
The test will run for 3 days, from May 29 to June 1, 2026. Players selected for the first access wave will receive test invites before the test begins. The studio says more recruitment events and access giveaways will follow later. Since the test has no NDA, players will be free to share screenshots, videos, and livestreams.
The build is still early, so the team is warning players to expect bugs, missing tutorials, and a limited amount of content. Multiplayer will not be available in this build, as the team says those features are still being refined. For now, the test is expected to offer around 3 to 5 hours of gameplay, with creature taming, building, and boss fights all included as part of the first public look.
Never Wither playtest access can be requested on Steam.
