Developers behind the widely loved Viking survival game, Valheim, have surprised us with more details about the Ashlands environment in their previous devlog, and this time, they revealed a glimpse of what the new enemies in the upcoming biome are going to look like.
The recently shared picture on their social media depicts the scorched forest at night, which makes it look really unsettling. It reminds me a lot of the creepy forest from the second Harry Potter movie. Let’s just hope there will be no spiders in this one!
Sometimes the coolest #Valheim pictures are taken when @RobinEyreArt is just playtesting. We’re really happy with how ominous the Ashlands trees are turning out! 👀 pic.twitter.com/SjGoE9WRUo

They’ve also revealed a new type of protection. Light Armor is the third set we currently know will be added in this update. It is good to know that players can choose their own playstyle and are not stuck with one set.
The Bonemaw Serpent, a sea creature found in the seas around the Ashland biome, has been given a fresh new look since last we saw it. Be cautious when sailing the area, as their spikes can be quite sharp, and it would be a shame if it rips your ship in half.
When creating new enemies, the team tends to look for inspiration by going back to the Black Forest. This newbie-crushing biome has the most well-known monsters in the game, and the Ashlands will get its own variant of greydwarfs and skeletons, which will make up a significant portion of the Ashlands population.

Furthermore, they are adding a variety of structures to the landscape. As with other biomes in Valheim, the Ashlands will contain remnants of past civilizations. Even though most of the area will be a fiery wasteland, some of the ancient ruins will have survived the inferno and will offer a glimpse into the past.
