Iron Gate has released another walk and talk episode where they share how the development of Valheim is going. This time, they talked about how much they scrapped while designing the Ashlands, new trash mod enemies, and siege weapons.
The Fallen Valkyrie has gotten a new look. This enemy has gone through many reworks and improvements, to the point where the developers considered scrapping it altogether. But, they persevered, and now they are confident in the enemy’s design, so be careful while exploring the Ashlands biome as this creature can swoop down from the skies and attack you.

Twitchers are expected to be irritatingly tough skeletons and will be the main enemies you encounter in the Ashlands. They emerge from spawners scattered around the biome. The more formidable melee and ranged Charred Units, as shown in an earlier devlog, used to be the primary adversaries. However, after the team added a dungeon-like structure called the fortress, they deemed it more suitable for these units to be your opponents in those locations. Thus, the weaker Twitchers were born.
Siege weapons such as catapults and battering rams will be available in the game and can be used to siege fortresses. However, these raids will be very difficult. As a fun plot twist, building a base near these structures will cause them to raid you.

The Ashlands biome itself, like the previous Mistlands biome, has gone through many iterations, and a lot of art assets were created but ultimately thrown out because they didn’t fit the game or the area itself.
The new material you can obtain to upgrade your gear with will be flame metal, an ore found in the middle of lava pools on rocky platforms, and there will be a challenge to obtain them.
You can watch the 2nd episode of Walk & Talk on the official website.
Valheim is available on Steam and Game Pass.
