Nightingale Reveals New Alpha Test Details and How Switching to Unreal Engine 5 Changes the Game

The first community alpha footage has been revealed.

Inflexion Games has updated players on the first community alpha testing test for their upcoming realm-building survival game Nightingale.

The developers explained why they switched to Unreal Engine 5, which is the reason why Nightingale was delayed until 2023. They wanted to use two new features the new engine had to offer. Lumen, which will give the game realistic lighting and reflections in real-time. Nanite is a system that deals with virtualized geometry, which makes objects that are further away from the player look better as it gets closer.

Some community questions were answered such as what will character progression look like. Throughout Nightingale, players upgrade their gear to take on harder challenges. This means there is no leveling system. Creatures will get more difficult the further you explore a realm. When crafting a realm you can also use cards to start with stronger mobs.

At launch, Nightingale will be available in five languages, English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish with more to come post-release. The building system is a blueprint based similar to The Forest. Besides the normal walls and floors, there will be traps and a variety of workstations to place.

The first alpha testing has been wrapped up. Although this was a small-scale play test (less than 100 people), it was enough to learn what changes needed to be made. Like simplifying the crafting mechanics.

If you want to be part of their next alpha, all you have to do is sign up for their newsletter. When a play-test is on its way they will send out a survey, you will automatically be entering for a chance to play after filling it out. If you have already done this, then there is no need to do it again.
