Developers Gamepires released a new update to their open-world survival game SCUM, adding new craftable items and mechanics.

Vehicles got a significant overhaul. When driving around and crashing into things or driving off cliffs, the car’s individual parts can become damaged. You can take off the broken pieces and replace them with new ones if you find them. This also allows for more vehicle customization. You can take the top off and drive around with the wind in your hair, or remove some doors to give it a more post-apocalyptic look. Or just drive around with only the essentials, it is up to you.

The developers talked about this here and there, but they now implemented burn damage. Depending on the temperature of the heat source and the amount of time spent in the fire, your burn wounds will be more severe. The wound can range from a first degree burn to a third degree. The first one lowers your DEX stat, the second one adds weakness, and the third gives the player dizziness on top of this. While this heals over time, you can speed up the healing process by using the new burn gel on it. Two variants of gel have been added, one can only be found during looting and the other can be crafted.

A new weapon has been added for players to create. The glass shiv is the newest addition to the game’s melee arsenal. A very fitting weapon to this prison island.

The medium battery charger was an item that was supposed to be released during the last patch but was not finished back then. It has been added during this update in all its glory, along with a weight fix for the other chargers, so they no longer weigh nothing.
