Gloria Victis is back, and this time the medieval MMO is returning as a F2P survival experience. After the relaunch was first announced in February 2026 and multiple closed tests, the game is now open to a wider audience, giving longtime fans and new players another chance to step into its large scale open world.
For a game that has already spent a decade online, the comeback gives Gloria Victis a fresh start under new ownership. The title was even named a Top Game on Steam more than three years ago, which helped build its place among players who enjoy hard fought battles and a more grounded take on medieval warfare. Now, after gamigo acquired the license, the focus has shifted to bringing the MMO back in a form that can reach more players around the world.
The core of Gloria Victis has not changed and it still centers on territory control, castle sieges, open world PvP, and a player driven economy built around gathering and crafting. Combat remains action based and non target, so timing and positioning matter as much as gear. Players can fight for one of three nations, defend their guild holdings, or take part in battles over fortifications and resource points. The looting system also keeps the stakes high, especially in dangerous areas where a lost fight can quickly turn into a costly one.
Following the closed beta in May 2026, the relaunch brings an updated version of the game to players. Beyond the launch itself, the team is already working on improvements and a major post launch update. One of the bigger additions planned is State of War, a guild focused siege system where players will attack and defend custom built castles on guild islands.
Gloria Victis is now available as a free to play title on Steam.
