Never Wither Unveils the Windhowl Plateau Biome and the Claws Faction

A look at the next region reveals harsher environments with new creatures.

There’s been a flood of survival updates recently, so it seems fitting developers of Never Wither, a V Rising-inspired survival crafting game, wanted to throw their hat in the ring. This time, the game shifts attention away from the previously showcased Verdant Valley and toward Windhowl Plateau, the next major region currently in development.

According to the developers, Windhowl Plateau sits northeast of Verdant Valley and is designed to introduce a noticeably harsher environment. The area replaces open meadows with steep cliffs, isolated mesas, narrow ridges, natural stone bridges, and ancient stairways. Elevation differences are much greater than in the earlier region, giving players more dramatic terrain. Gray ruins, pale blue rivers, and muted vegetation are intended to create the impression of a landscape locked in an endless autumn.

Ancient structures play a larger role throughout the plateau. Ruins known as Ancient Relics range from collapsed foundations to partially preserved buildings, blending weathered rock with carved stonework to suggest the remains of a lost civilization. One of the area’s central landmarks is the Temple of Wind, a ruined mountaintop structure occupied by Wind Elementals and mysterious Relics. At its highest point, players will encounter an unusually large Wind Elemental that protects the temple.

The update also introduces several notable locations connected to The Claws faction. The Cliffside Outpost is presented as a larger and more heavily fortified settlement than those found in Verdant Valley, with defensive structures built directly into the surrounding cliffs. Beyond it lies an open hunting ground populated by wildlife including Terrabirds, Wind Hornhares, Boomerang Weasels, and the Owlbear. Exploration also brings environmental hazards, including Thunder Cedars, trees capable of storing electrical energy and striking nearby areas with lightning. Can I pet the Owlbear?

Several new enemies are also detailed such as Steel-arm Beekeepers that serve The Claws by collecting honey for brewing mead and fight using oversized honey barrels, powerful melee attacks, self-buffing drinks, and thrown barrel attacks that can hinder opponents. The Boomerang Weasel relies on its tail for both close-range strikes and ranged wind blade attacks. Another addition, the Rock Knight, manipulates stone into weapons, fighting with rock spears or heavy punches.

The developers also confirmed they will continue refining the game based on player feedback gathered during testing and community discussions. Players can also suggest names for new creatures in the creature naming contest.
