Deadside, a hardcore multiplayer shooter set in a sizable open post-apocalyptic gaming environment with a focus on balancing the dynamics of a hardcore survival game with the realistic aspect of life in the ruins of a dead civilization, saw the release of its 0.6.0 version update on the public test server on June 16. You won’t find any unicorns or zombies here but there is a lot to be excited about.
Since the last release of version 0.5.0 on April 18, this version update has been in the works for a while. According to Bad Pixel, they have combed social media platforms for feedback on the features gamers want to see in the game. They have updated their roadmap for 2023 after taking their advice.
A bigger play area was something that many players desired. Players will eventually have access to roughly 225 sq. km of play space, which is currently about 25 sq. km in size. In the southwest corner of the map, they’ll add a brand-new, bigger city that will dwarf the existing city of Beregovoy. The new city will be built adjacent to a sizable river, have broad streets lined with attractive landmarks, and have a great deal more confined spaces, giving snipers greater opportunities to practice their art. The city is a component of a much wider map extension, which will gradually be made available and will also include small villages and even suburbs.
Additionally, new weapons have also been added to fill your armory. Smoke grenades have been made available to allow you to create concealment for yourself in a fight and move more effectively with multicolored smoke to allow you to make more advantageous battle moves with the addition of tripwires. For firepower, they have also added 2 new weapons the NK417 Battle Rifle and the PP-3000 SMG.
Many of the older weapons were of very simple design, but with the addition of some new weapon artists, they will be able to update the visual level to that of some of the newer weapons, so older weapons will also receive some more love.

Additionally, they are currently working on giving players the option to go prone, which will let them hide in tall grass, create more tactical situations, and improve the game’s realism. But they vow that it will be released at some point in the coming year when they fix some of the flaws, such as player collision and clipping through solid objects.
You might want to leave the city life behind now that the map region is larger because more hostile and hunting animals have been added to the wild areas. The new creatures will make some of the barren rural landscapes more realistic and provide some intriguing situations. In order to allow players who are not near duck habitats or cities where canned food is available to get their protein, fishing has also been included. However, players must exercise caution to avoid overfishing the area.
There will also be new vehicles and improvements to existing vehicles, such as vehicle locks and even storage areas in the boats, as well as a new inflatable boat that is smaller and faster than the existing swamp boat but has less storage space, only seats two people, and is weaker and more likely to pop.
Deadside heavily emphasizes PvE activities; as a result, additional missions will be added to provide players more depth and obstacles to tackle.
They will also continue to tune and improve current events while focusing on enhancing the AI. Finding the appropriate balance is always a challenge because it is a complex process that might generate more intense server pressure.
Bases are seeing some love as well. Many gameplay features require player-made bases, such as the raiding mechanic, where when you kill another player, there is a chance that they will drop a raid token that will allow you to raid their base. This token, when activated, shows everyone on the server the location of the base, and it’s able to be raided for an hour.

Currently, many players forgo a base as many of the things you use your base for, such as item storage, water collection, crafting, and respawning, can be done in other areas of the map, such as the safe zones, wells etc. They want to expand functionality back to the bases to make you want to keep and protect them. So, they have redesigned base towers, fixed floating bases, and increased the maximum number of large crates in your base from 6 to 8. They are aware of many problems with base building, and it’s a huge priority to continue to work on more bug fixes and balance changes.
And last but certainly not least, there is a tutorial system to introduce new players to not only the game but also the genre. To make the game more approachable and explain some more of the complicated features, such as the raid system.
Now unfortunately with the release of the 0.6.0 update on the live servers it will be accompanied by a base wipe. This will delete all player made structures on every server. Items inside of your safezone, and on your character, will remain. This needs to be done in order for the base exploit fixes to take effect.
