Funcom has confirmed that Dune: Awakening will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22, and the release will bring something many players have asked for since launch, full single-player support across all platforms. The survival game, which first launched on PC in June 2025, is also getting the final chapter of its Book One story on the same day, giving players a complete path through the main narrative from start to finish.
The next major update is more than just a console launch, as it is turning into a wider update for the game as a whole, with new and returning players getting access to the version Funcom now sees as the most complete one yet. On console, the game will include the full PC experience, along with the content and improvements added since launch. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will also feature optimized controls and user interface design, plus two graphics options, Performance mode at 60 frames per second and Quality mode for players who prefer a sharper image.
The console release will also be available through Xbox Game Pass. In addition, the game supports Xbox Play Anywhere, with shared progression and cross play between Xbox, Microsoft Store, ROG Xbox Ally, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Outside of consoles, Dune: Awakening is already Steam Deck verified and works with GeForce Now. There is one important limit, though. Cross play will not extend across different console platforms, and Steam players will not be able to play with console users.
Since launch, single-player support has been among the most requested features, and the new mode will let players experience the entire game at their own pace. When starting a new game, players will be able to choose between single-player and multiplayer. Single-player includes three preset difficulty levels, along with a full set of manual options for those who want to fine tune the experience. That means settings such as faster experience gain, easier enemies, or quicker harvesting can all be adjusted.

The mode is still built around the same world and systems as multiplayer, but with some key differences. All of the non player characters remain in place, while other players are removed from the equation. The Deep Desert is fully available and still contains all of its challenges, but the map will not reset and player buildings will not be wiped. The Coriolis Storm remains as a weather event, although it is less destructive than in multiplayer. Even the Landsraad endgame has been adapted, using simulation to keep the faction conflict active without needing other players in the same space.
Funcom is also shifting the game toward a more character focused structure. Instead of centering everything around servers, players will now manage their characters from the main menu and decide where to take them each time they log in. Single-player characters stay locked to that mode, while private and self hosted server characters can move between those environments. Official server characters can transfer to private or self hosted servers, although not the other way around. Bases and vehicles that are backed up will travel with the character as well, which should make it easier to keep progress without dealing with long transfer steps.
Dune: Awakening launched with Acts 1 and 2 of Book One, and later updates expanded that arc further. The September release will add the final act and bring the full story to a close. That matters because the game has leaned heavily on narrative since day one, mixing survival systems with a cinematic approach to the Dune universe. By the time the update arrives, players on both PC and console will be able to experience the whole story in one run, from the opening chapters to the ending.

A broader set of customization tools is also coming. Single-player, self hosted servers, and rented private servers will gain far more control over world settings than they had at PC launch. Players will be able to toggle sandstorms, adjust resource rates, change experience gain, alter building limits, set item durability, modify base decay, control sandworm and storm spawns, and more. For some players, that may be the biggest quality of life change in the update, especially for those who want a more relaxed survival experience or a harsher one shaped around their own rules.
Since launch, the game has also grown through a steady stream of additions. PvP is now optional in every part of the game, and the Deep Desert exists as both a PvE and PvP space. The Landsraad endgame was rebuilt into a mission based system, shipwrecks in Hagga Basin are now PvE only, and base and vehicle recovery tools have made the survival loop far less punishing. New locations, weapons, gear, cosmetics, specializations, and augmentations have also been added over time.
