Heat Death: Survival Train is Finally Releasing This December

You can now join the new open beta test!

Mass Games, the developer of Heat Death, has released a new open beta test that offers a better look at what to expect in the Early Access release. This playtest introduces realistic train physics, radiation, module deterioration, as well as difficulty settings, enemies, and weapons.

Based on player feedback, a heat system has been added to the game that requires managing the flow and retention of temperature inside the train. You should think strategically when building, as walls provide better insulation and retain heat more effectively than windows.

The developers have introduced more realistic train physic and environment effects that influence speed. The train weight will depend on the components you build, and the heavier the train, the slower it will accelerate. Storms will increase air drag and reduce the train’s speed as well.

A newly added fission module generates energy using fuel but it also emits radiation and you will have to handle with emission. In addition, the reactor creates highly radioactive waste, which must be stored or disposed safely to avoid harmful effects.

There has been made changes to how you access structural modules in the game. They will no longer be available at the start and you must reach train stations to get access to them. Also, some modules like the fission reactor, engine, dynamo will now wear down as they are used and you should repair or replace them.

In the new update, you can expect tougher fights, as scout drones have been replaced by new airborne drones that are faster and more difficult to evade. To defend the train against these more challenging enemies, a new weapon called the Rapid Burst, which relies on train power rather than traditional ammo, has been added. The Rapid Burst allows for continuous firing without the need to reload ammunition.

The developers have also added new difficulty levels, which can be changed at any time during your playthrough to make the game more challenging or easier on the go.

Heat Death: Survival Train is launching into Early Access on December 12, 2024, and you can access the latest open beta test on Steam.
