Rocketwerkz has revealed new details and the release date for their upcoming New Frontiers expansion. This major update comes with a different map filled with unseen biomes, mutated creatures, narrative missions, over 100 new craftables, and more.

The New Frontiers DLC for Icarus will send players to a new region on the planet, where the flora and fauna are different from what you have come to know due to the terraforming process. 

This location has a few new biomes like the dangerous volcanoes, muddy swampland, and ‌creepy alien grasslands. These places are home to some terrifying-sounding mutated creatures. Over 10 new enemies have been added to this region. The terraformation drastically impacted the wildlife, unlike other regions, it did not kill them but made them stronger and more dangerous. Be aware of the aptly named Dreadwing, Lava Hunter, and Drifters, among many others.

This DLC also introduces six new narrative missions for the player to complete leading you slowly deeper and deeper into the region. A new technology will make starting new missions a lot easier. You will be able to start new quests no matter what kind straight from your base on the planet, so no need to leave and come back if you want to move on with the story. This feature is stated to be added to the main game at a later point in development.

This new map introduces plenty of unique exotic plants and materials to use in crafting. New tiers will be added allowing the player to craft using obsidian, crystalized miasma, scoria, and much more. With a total of over 100 new items to craft. 

In this area, you will be able to obtain a new type of currency, which you can spend in the orbital workshop to purchase over 30 new items. One of these will be a new system that allows you to buy them while on the planet and call a drop pod down with those supplies.

The New Frontiers DLC for Icarus is stated to be released on the 24th of August on Steam. If you want to play this new expansion with your friends but one of them does not own the DLC, they will still be able to join as long as at least one person bought it.
