Some of the most immersive games must be the first-person role-playing games that allow you to enter a fully fleshed-out 3D world, but how do you do that with a 2D side-scrolling game? Pretty much the way you would in a 3D game, but the ambiance of the game is a bit tougher to nail down.
The game is set in the 1980s, which is already a very nostalgic setting with very vibrant colors and a fresh breath from some of the grittier post-apocalyptic settings. And part of making it very immersive is by building realistic and detailed points of interest for you to visit, along with the lighting to really flesh out the scene, but there is only so much you can do with the visuals until you get to the next important immersion element.

Sound is the second most important feature, creaking doors, the rustling of the wind, and even the labored movement of the zombies themselves. Developer PikPok has emphasized that they are usually blown away by how the different departments work together: level design and visual artists build the experience, and then the sound department adds their part to see the world come into its own.
Next are characters, and especially in survival games, it’s important for players to connect with the characters, so each character in the game is designed to be unique with their own skills, past lives, and how they cope with what’s going on. So, you will have to decide how to use and/or shelter your characters and feel the sorrow of losing one that you have grown attached to.
As of right now, there has not been a release date set for this game, except that it is expected to be launched in 2024. I, for one, can’t wait to delve into this game and experience the visuals and audio that will hopefully make this journey memorable.
