Science-Infused Survival Game ‘Abiotic Factor’ Launches Its Final Early Access Update

Face a new dangerous faction.

Deep Field Games has released their final major early access update for the Half-Life-inspired survival game Abiotic Factor. They introduced a large new area to explore, more weapons, hard light shields, and a crossover with Core Keeper.

As the story continues, we head deeper into the facility. The Reactors is the name of the new location and is found past the hydro plant. This place is filled with radioactive sludge. However, this is not the only danger in the area. There is a new faction that wants to take back control and they are called the Gatekeepers and they do not care if you are a friend or foe. Compared to the other post-launch places this is a very large location with multiple underground buildings and caves.

This update gave us access to many new weapons and technology. One of the best quality-of-life additions they added is the teleport pads, you can place these anywhere throughout the laboratory and as long as they have electricity you can link them. This saves a lot of travel time now that the map has gotten so large. Hard light is a new feature and comes in many forms. You can use it to block off hallways, build a bridge, create a large shield that stops bullets from one side while you can shoot through it on the other side, or a small shield that bounces back energy projectiles. You now have access to a few new fun grenades. One of them creates a huge black hole that sucks in everything in a radius, including yourself if you stand close. The other shoots out colorful lasers like a disco ball and can be picked back up and reused once charged.

Something is hiding in the old mines. Deep Field Games partnered up with Pugstorm and introduced Ghorm, one of the first bosses you meet in Core Keeper. He can be found beyond the previously boarded-up mine shaft. The path down there is rather dark but if you follow the faint glowing plants you will find Ghorm. In addition to this, we got some new themed food, resources, and enemies as well. If you own Core Keeper you also get a new hairstyle, clothes, and ID card.

What do you think of this update? Let me know in the comments.
