The developers of Winter Survival are working hard on the upcoming game release and have shared new details about advanced mechanics aimed at creating a more immersive survival experience.

Previously, they shared details about the game’s most dangerous predator, and this time, the new update focuses on four different mechanics.

The first mechanic is the ability to sleep outside. While in most survival games, you do not think much about it as you set up a basic camp with a place to sleep before exploring onward, but Winter Survival wants to bring a bit of reality to the survival genre.

Sleeping outside isn’t as easy as it sounds, as you are exposed to the elements and must contend with dropping temperatures, and to keep warm, you might build a fire. However, any changes in the environment can bring forth unwelcome guests, and you might be awoken by a curious wolf looking for a meal. If you’re prepared, you might be able to fend them off, but it’s always a good idea to pick a sleeping area wisely.

The next mechanic is cooking. While roughing it, eventually hunger is going to come, and you might be able to catch a rabbit or two, but you must cook them. Just be careful where you build your fire; if cooking outside, like sleeping, wildlife like boars and bears might come looking for an easy meal, and if you won’t share your meal, you might just become the meal.

Do you smell that? You might not, but most animals in the wild have a keen sense of smell; their lives depend on it, and yours might as well. The stench of humans is well known, especially those trapped in the wild. So before going on the hunt, be prepared, wash up, and blend into the environment, or your next meal might always be one step ahead of you.

Lastly, everyone likes presents, so occasionally an airdrop will fall from the sky during the evening hours, with some much-needed equipment to make surviving a bit easier. In order to locate the drop, you will need to use your walkie-talkie, tracking down the signal. However, you have a limited time to act before the signal fades. Are you prepared to travel into the dangerous darkness in search of the goodies?

Every update the developers share with us makes me want to jump into the wilds of Winter Survival.
