Nightingale: What You Need to Know Before the Game’s Release

Questions concerning the price, the offline mode, mod support, and more have been answered.

With the release of Nightingale just around the corner, you might have some questions before picking up the game. Luckily, the developers have answered the most frequently asked player questions, and here’s what you need to know.

Currently, the game will be released on PC via Steam, and available on GeForce Now, with no other platforms mentioned yet. Although it’s releasing on Steam, it is not currently supported on the Steam Deck. However, they are working on Steam Deck compatibility and hope to have an update before the early launch or soon after.

Nightingale is a co-op survival, crafting, and exploration game. You can play solo or with up to five friends, but one thing to be aware of is that you will have to have an active internet connection to play, even if you are playing alone.

The reason for this is that the game is run on dedicated official servers, and each person will be able to have their own realm, called a respite realm, which is where you will return if you happen to die, and where your main base will reside. If you invite your friends to join you in your respite zone, they can return to your respite zone even if you’re offline because the server is always up.

During the Early Access release, there won’t be any private dedicated servers or community mod support, but that might change after the full release, so we will have to wait and see what comes with additional development.

Realm cards come in two flavors, major and minor cards. The major cards dictate what style of biome you will journey too, and the minor cards change what type of creatures and resources you might find. In the past, once the portal closed, the realm was lost forever. However, after feedback from testers, you can now return to the same realm by reopening the gate with the same cards, or click the “reset realm” button to create a brand new one.

Nightingale was developed as a first-person game, but the developers have added the ability to change into third-person as well. It’s not very well documented, so if you’re curious to try it out, hit F5 to switch between the two.

At Early Access launch, we will have a limited amount of customization when it comes to key bindings; a vast majority of keys can be rebounded. Partial controller support is also included in the EA launch, although some menus and in-game actions may still require a keyboard and mouse.

Nightingale is launching into Early Access on February 20th, 2024, and will cost $29.99 USD. If the amount of action, exploration, and building is as fun as the trailers portray, it will be well worth the asking price.

Are you going to get the game while in Early Access, or wait until full release? Let me know in the comments below.
