Dreamlit Shares Exciting Details about the Vast Open World of Towers of Aghasba

Rebuild the fallen civilization of Shimu.

Towers of Aghasba aims to be one of the biggest survival game releases coming later this year. To keep the excitement going, developer Dreamlit has revealed new details about what players can expect to experience in the game’s open world.

The Towers of Aghasba storyline is based on a fictional Shimu civilization that was destroyed by a dark force called the Withered. This force absorbed the life from Aghasba and turned it into calcified Withered lands filled with toxic energy, where bloodthirsty monsters now roam. Your mission is to rebuild your ancestors’ society and defeat the cursed Withered to reclaim the corrupted realms and revive the ecosystem.

To bring life back to Aghasba you need to plant a colossal tree that will attract diverse flora in which various creatures can thrive. As the tree grows, it starts to heal the land nearby, providing essential resources for building and survival. However, you should maintain the balance between nature, construction, and resource gathering. Reckless expansion and exploitation can make the colossal tree less resilient.

At the center of the world of Aghasba lies Midhaven, the once-prosperous metropolis of the Shimu civilization, now in ruins due to Withered’s destruction. You will have to rebuild village by village, with each settlement in different biomes essential for the survival of your Shimu tribe. Restoring these ancient ruins that are scattered across the world not only helps to revive the civilization but also unlocks unique crafting recipes.

Towers of Aghasba open world

The world of Aghasba has diverse landscapes, including lush forests, towering mountains, arid deserts, deep canyons, and seas, all filled with fantastical plants and creatures. Each biome offers unique resources that are crucial for your survival: deserts are rich in valuable minerals that you need for crafting and building, while temperate regions are perfect for farming to sustain your tribe.

Dreamlit, in collaboration with Studio Ghibli’s artist Yoichi Nishikawa, created stunning visuals of Aghasba. The dynamic lighting shifts with the time of day and weather, showcasing sunrises, sunsets, and cloudy skies that engage you more deeply with the environment.

For those considering playing on PS5, the game offers 3D spatial audio that allows you to hear sounds coming from specific directions as you turn the camera, just like in real life. For example, as you explore, you might hear a bird chirping from above, bugs buzzing around, footsteps approaching from behind, or waves crashing against the shore.

Towers of Aghasba has been in development for more than 5 years, and now is the time to get excited, as the game is about to enter Early Access.
