Alaskan Road Truckers Reveals New Details About Survival Mechanics in the Game

Take care of yourself, or you won't drive far.

Road Studio has recently released a new gameplay trailer and explained how survival works in Alaskan Road Truckers.

In the game, you are a truck driver delivering goods from one part of Alaska to another. While ‌out on a job, the weather can suddenly change to a harsh blizzard that starts rolling in, obstructing your visibility and creating new obstacles on the road.

In between your travels, you can return to your home base to fix up any damage to your truck and even customize it with different paint jobs. Dangers can pop up on the road at any moment. Mudslides, fallen trees, and even avalanches are all things to look out for out in the countryside.

Similar to your truck, you will also have to take good care of your own health. In Alaskan Road Truckers you will have to manage your health, stamina, and hunger. When your HP drops to zero, you will get sent to a hospital that will patch you back up for a fee. Not only will you lose some of your hard-earned money, being treated also takes some time, and you have a deadline for the delivery. This makes fainting a lot more stressful, as you have to take shorter and more dangerous routes to make your delivery on time.

Keeping yourself well-fed is important in any situation. When your hunger bar runs low, it will start to affect your health negatively. Throughout the game, you can spend your cash on a variety of food products. You might be tempted to go for ‌junk food items like hot dogs or energy drinks. These will keep your hunger up and are really cheap to pick up. However, consuming too much junk food comes with its own health risks. A better option is to buy ingredients and cook a healthy dish in the back of your truck. Cooking does take some time, so it is up to the player if they can afford to make a meal or eat a quick snack and move on.

Without stamina, you won’t be able to pay attention while driving, so getting enough sleep is important. There is a bed in the back of your truck that you can use, this is not the most comfortable and will in turn not regenerate all of your stamina. To maximize your energy, you would have to sleep in a bed back at your base or stay at a motel for the night.

Alaskan Road Truckers is set to release later this year.
