Astrolabe Interactive shared some exciting details of what we can expect in their upcoming island sailing survival game, Aloft. We got a look at the start of a brand-new combat system, the first wall decorations, a look into the next biome of the game, and an update on the multiplayer.
The game has undergone a significant revamp of its combat system, featuring exciting new attacks, animations, and combo moves. Players can now execute a variety of exhilarating moves, such as dashing forward to close the distance on an enemy, launching them into the sky, and unleashing a barrage of attacks. Another new move allows players to soar into the air and bring their blade down with a powerful slam, sending any nearby mushroom men flying. All of these new features combine to provide players with a thrilling and dynamic combat experience.
In the future, islands will be home to a diverse ecosystem of creatures such as frogs, birds, bats, and even flying snakes. This will make the world of Aloft feel much more alive and less lonely.
The amount of decorations is growing with every update, while the developers have already shown they were working on a chair and table. Now they revealed we will be getting wall decorations as well in the form of cloth banners and ropes with small ties on them?

They also hinted at what the building material will look like in the next biome. This area will be more barren and filled with red rocks, unlike the current lush green forests and fields on the emerald islands.
We can expect some major UX and UI changes to the menus. The devs are also experimenting with a dynamic soundtrack that seamlessly changes depending on what you are currently doing to best reflect the mood.
Multiplayer is still under development, they are currently working on NPC synchronization as a beta test is underway.
We should expect a new combat-orientated demo to be released this fall.
How do you like the improved combat in Aloft? Let me know in the comments.
