Pugstorm, the developer of cave survival game Core Keeper, has released a Halloween event and plans to add Steam achievements.
The Halloween event runs from the 25th of October to the 8th of November. The timer for this event is based on your local PC time. If you want to experience it later in the year, you can do so by reverting your PC’s clock back to this date.
Four classic enemies are dressed up for the occasion. These are the early game cavelings and the big larva. When you kill one of them there is a chance they will drop a goodie bag.
They can also drop their outfit and a new statue showing them in their Halloween costume. Opening the bag will reward the player with varying items like candies, which restore health and give a buff, new gear like the pumpkin lantern, new Halloween outfits, and a haunted hive mother summoning idol.
When you bring the idol to the hive mother boss location and use it on the summoning ring it will spawn a haunted variant of the regular boss. The version will use the same attacks but looks different and will drop a unique chest that contains the haunted hive mother statue, new rings, and other Halloween gear.

You can now grow your own pumpkins which are called grumpkins in this game. They look like gray pumpkins with a grumpy face. You can get the seeds from the goodie bags.
Some observant players have noticed that Core Keeper has a temporary achievement. This achievement is called achievement testing and the description reads “Yes, achievements are coming to Core Keeper :)”. We will most likely see them introduced in Novembers’s big update “Desert of Beginnings”.
What do you think of this Halloween event? Are you looking forward to the new update? Let me know in the comments.
