As Dune: Awakening’s release was just one month away, the developers decided to delay the game for necessary improvements. Luckily, we’ll get a beta test and have a chance to try the game before its official release.
The team is ready to enter the final phase of the game’s development, having recently launched a major preview beta that allowed hundreds of journalists and content creators to explore the game’s early chapters. Their coverage is slated to go live on April 25 as part of the first wave of impressions. According to the team, this beta has provided crucial insight into early game pacing, weapon handling and resource management systems.
In February, the developer released the Character Creator and Benchmark tool on Steam, which offers players an early opportunity to try character customization possibilities and test performance. Pre‑orders opened in March, and since then Developer livestreams and video updates have continued to reveal new insights into crafting systems, weapon customization and combat.
After reviewing player feedback, the team concluded that an additional three weeks of polishing would significantly improve the final product. As a result, the launch date has shifted to June 10, with a head start period beginning June 5. This decision was made carefully, taking alpha tester feedback to deliver a smooth experience from day one. The extra time will also make way for a public playtest coming in May, when even more players can join the test and share impressions.
Dune: Awakening promises an ambitious multiplayer survival experience set on the treacherous sands of Arrakis. The studio emphasized the importance of using this extra time to ensure server stability, gameplay balance and technical polish so that its ambitious vision sticks the landing.
Hopefully, this will be the final delay, and we’ll be able to jump into the game before the summer season begins!
