Crytivo has unveiled the new name for their automation and farming survival game. Farm Folks, as it was previously known, has now been rebranded as Autonomica to better portray the game’s mechanics. The developers also shared more detail about the different gameplay loops you can expect, such as farming, automating, and combat.
The original reason it was called Farm Folks was that the main focus was to build up your own farm and harvest a variety of different crops over the four seasons. Besides plants, there are also animals to take care of, and as is customary for nearly every farming sim, there are multiple NPCs to romance. Over the course of the game, you will be automating a lot of tasks, but not in the usual way with sprinklers, for example. Similar to games like Satisfactory, the player will construct a large network of machines and conveyors to transport crops and other resources all over the world. As this became a larger focal point, the developers considered changing the name, and automation is now center stage, overshadowing the farming aspect to differentiate it from other games in the genre.

Some special resources can only be obtained by defeating ghosts that spawn at night. These materials can be used to progress in both the PvE and PvP areas of the game. Battling against other players can be done solo or in a team. By constructing a device that teleports you to the future, you and everyone else can fight it out, collecting more resources and shaping the world to your vision. One of the unique aspects of this multiplayer battle arena is that it brings over what you and your opponents have built in the past, and this will change the environment every time you play.
How do you like the new name? Let me know in the comments.
