Free ‘Depths of Tartarus’ Update Brings Crab Island Raid and PvP Map to Pioner

Face off against mutant crabs, ruthless pirates, and new bosses.

Developer GFA Games has released Depths of Tartarus, an update that expands Pioners’s endgame. The patch centers on a new co-op raid and a new competitive map, while also delivering narrative missions and dynamic events.

Crab Island is new raid that asks a group of players to work through several stages and adapt to shifting mechanics and boss fights. Rewards are aimed at long term progression, giving players gear and parts that support high-tier loadouts and extend the late game loop.

For players who prefer PvP, the Dawn map offers tight, fast matches for six versus six brawls. The layout favours quick rotations and frequent fights, which should reward teams that coordinate and solo players that can read the flow of combat.

The update does not forget the story, with new missions on Tartarus Island continuing the main narrative and deepening chracter progression. These missions link the island’s new threats to broader lore, giving players more reasons to explore and follow plot lines between combat runs.

Two world events were added to the open world. Power of Earth and a secret event named A Gift from Heaven appear dynamically and encourage players to cooperate when they spawn. Novel rewards are tied to those encounters, including new weapons and rare crafting materials that make taking part worthwhile.

On the weapons side, Depths of Tartarus introduces new pieces called Rooster and Boar along with hybrid variants. These items arrive as raid and event rewards and expand combat options, giving players different ways to approach fights and build their characters.

Crafting got a useful quality of life feature. A resource conversion system lets players turn higher tier materials into lower tier ones using recipes from select traders. That should cut down on the time spent hunting for specific parts and make crafting more flexible.

The update also added a set of Steam achievements that track progress across the new systems. Players can earn recognition for raid completions, PvP milestones and world event participation.

GFA Games described the update as a step toward broader content and better systems. “With Depths of Tartarus, we wanted to expand both the world and the ways players interact with it. From story missions that deepen the narrative to raids and PvP arenas that push teams to coordinate, this update is designed to reward exploration, teamwork, and progression. We’ve also focused heavily on stability, optimization, and quality-of-life improvements based on community feedback, and we’re just getting started,” the developer team said.

Depths of Tartarus is available now to all Steam Early Access owners of Pioner.
