Highly Anticipated ‘Solarpunk’ Lands Straight into 1.0 on All Major Platforms

The cozy survival game with 1.2 million wishlists takes Steam by storm.

Solarpunk is out now out as a full release on major platforms, bringing its calm take on survival crafting to players who prefer a slower pace. The game is designed as a focused indie project, made by a very small team, and it leans into that identity with a compact but carefully shaped experience.

Much of Solarpunk revolves around making a home in the sky, where players can build freely, decorate their base, and shape each island into a place that feels personal. Housing, farming, and small details all matter here, and the game gives enough room for creativity without pushing toward constant conflict. The world is handcrafted rather than randomly generated, which gives each island a clearer sense of purpose and keeps exploration tied to the broader sandbox.

The survival loop is built around gathering resources, crafting tools, and improving your base step by step. Sunlight, wind, and water all feed into the energy system, while weather changes how much power can be produced. Batteries help store that energy, and wireless power keeps the base running. Automation also plays a big part, with transport drones handling resource gathering so players can spend more time building, farming, and exploring.

Solarpunk also supports both solo play and relaxed co-op, with each player keeping their own inventory. There are no public servers, no crossplay, and no PvP systems, so the experience stays focused on collaboration and personal progress. That same approach carries into farming and animals, where growing fruits and vegetables is the main food source and creatures live in a system of coexistence rather than exploitation. Even pigs have a role, digging up truffles when treated well 🙂

An airship system rounds out the setup, letting each player build their own ship and travel to nearby islands in search of resources. The game currently offers two biomes, and the main progression can be reached in around 20 hours, after which the sandbox opens up for players who want to keep expanding their base or fine tuning their island home. There is no story campaign or narrative quest path, which makes Solarpunk a game about building its own rhythm instead of following a fixed route.

Solarpunk is available on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Epic Games Store. However, Nintendo Switch 2 players will still need to wait a bit longer for the game’s release.
