Honeycomb: The World Beyond Gets Delayed to 2026

Planet Sota7 is evolving with fresh locations and creatures.

No one is eager to hear that a game is being pushed out, especially when the release date was weeks away. But I’ve never seen a case where it wasn’t warranted. Still, I think it takes courage to admit a game needs more time, and the Honeycomb team showed exactly that in their latest announcement.

What is known so far is that the game has been delayed until the first quarter of 2026, with no exact release date announced. Developers cited a need for polish, stating they were unhappy with the current state of the game and wanted to iron out some of the more pressing issues. They also wanted to express their thanks for the support and understanding, and reassured gamers that they were making progress across the entirety of Honeycomb.

The area currently receiving that polish are the game’s biomes, located in the fictional world of Sota7. They are ensuring the environment and locations are in the best shape they can be, and accurately depict what the developers wanted to show players. Plants, creatures, and resources are all undergoing a makeover, including the Nango, a dragon-like armadillo.

Survivors will also notice an upgraded scout drone, allowing players more reach and control over how they make discoveries. The hoverboard also received updates, including new animations and visual effects. In fact, the dev team has been busy adding a whole host of new animations across the board.

With the updates to the game’s core features, quality of life fixes such as making resource deposits easier to spot have also been added. Along with updates to the blueprint system and crafting devices.

The developers wanted to let gamers know they have added a photo mode to Honeycomb, giving survival photographers a chance to come up with unique compositions. This mode will be receiving some updates that will extend throughout the game’s life, including filters, modes, and lighting.

Delays are never fun, but it looks to me like developer Frozen Way understand the assignment, and I think spending more time polishing is always a good reason to delay a game’s release.
