The developers at Mandragora have revealed some new details about mid-game automation for their relaxing survival game I am Future.
While building your base on top of a skyscraper, you have a generous selection of structures you can place down. Most of these will fall into one of three categories.
The first one is productive structures, these are the workbenches, campfires, and more. Everything that can produce or craft something falls into this category.
The defensive structures are items like torches and fences that will help you fend off mutated leeches, weeds, and other pests.
Lastly, the auxiliary structures are the chests and other storage devices.
Some of these buildings require electricity which can be produced by gathering biomass around the rooftops and bringing it to a generator. For example, a structure that requires power is the crypto farm. When powered on it will create U coins, a special currency you can use to buy items while exploring other skyscrapers with your drone.

The exploration drone is not the only friendly robot the player can make. You can create small steel minions to help you out around your base. They can work by them selfs automatically doing whatever task they think needs doing at that time. Alternatively, the player can manually set tasks for them. When interacting with the robot you can assign them a role.
The collectors go around the rooftop and harvest whatever material they can find and store it in a chest for the player to use.
The builder can help you out while constructing bridges or other buildings. It will search your chests for the necessary supplies and bring them to the construction site.
The technician helps you maintain your base. It will check structures that require resources to function, like the generators, and tops them up as long as the player has the materials in their storage.
These little minions do of course need to recharge so you will need to build a charging station. If you do not like the standard look you can customize them by painting them a different color or giving them a hat.
I Am Future is set to release on the 8th of August on Steam.
Will you be creating a self-sustaining luxury rooftop base or do you enjoy the manual labor? Let me know in the comments.
