Flow Studio, developers of the open-world survival game Len’s Island, are working hard on the upcoming Cursed Underworld update. This new expansion introduces a massive cave system overhaul, new game mode, armor, powerful enchantments, and more.
Caves and dungeons
Currently, in the game, dungeons and caves are one and the same. This came with some drawbacks according to the developers. The area would be filled with monsters and are rather short, making it difficult to collect a lot of ores.
As part of the next update, they will split both of them up into their own separate areas. As for the caves, this has some huge implications. For one, they will be as large as the overworld and will have multiple entry points, giving the players the option to traverse the island differently. To make exploring them feel fresh, the developers opted for a procedural generation system, so no two caves would be the same. Now the dungeon aspect has been removed, it will be more peaceful when you explore the mines.

This does not mean it will become a walk in the park, as the difficulty has been shifted from combat to puzzle solving. There is a variety of parkour, repair, and building challenges blocking the player from traversing the sprawling underground network. Enemies do still exist in the mines, but are not as common as before.
Now that the caves are massive, it would be boring if everything looked the same. There will be multiple new biomes coming, each with its own hazard, like lava rivers. Different ores can be found in each area. The stronger materials will be found in more difficult biomes.
You will have the opportunity to build your base down below the surface and farm mushrooms, which are an ingredient in some new recipes.
Weapons and armor
The Cursed Underworld update introduces more than just large cave structures.
You will be able to purchase or find a ton of new armor sets that provide the player with unique buffs. Some are meant for combat, while others are for gathering resources, which you don’t see often enough. Gear like the Viking set will increase your attack and movement speed, while sorcerer armor reduces skill cooldowns. Each of the combat-orientated outfits also decreases any incoming damage depending on the amount of armor it provides.
For skilling activities, the Fisherman’s outfit, showing you any fishing spot in the area on your map, and the Farmer’s outfit will be a huge help when harvesting crops as you can no longer destroy plants that are not fully grown.
To help with the tedious armor switching, you can build an armor stand and swap your current outfit with the one you placed on the stand.

Weapons have gotten an overhaul too, you will now be able to enchant them using runes at the new enchantment table. By default, you already have a few runes unlocked, the rest you will need to purchase from villagers. Adding these to your weapons can change the game significantly. To name a few of the enchantments we already know about, there is ignited, as the name suggests this will set enemies ablaze and the fire can even spread to other monsters or trees, and even yourself, so be careful. Electrify has the ability to create lighting that chains between enemies. Holographic can be applied to both weapons and tools, this enchantment will increase the size of the item you put it on, giving you a greater reach.
The game now also supports the Peaceful Mode if you just want to build, farm and relax without fighting for your survival.
The Cursed Underworld update for Len’s Island has launched on September 10th.
