No Man’s Sky Releases Its Largest ‘Echoes’ Update of the Year

Dominate the galaxy as a robotic alien.

No Man’s Sky which is celebrating its 7th anniversary has launched the biggest update of 2023, the Echoes update, which is the 4th update this year.

We all know that No Man’s Sky got off to a rocky start when it first released, but Sean Murray and the team over at Hello Games have been hard at work continuing to provide us with free, quality content updates to the game, and this update is sure to not disappoint.

One of the most impressive additions in this update is a brand-new mysterious race of mechanical constructs known as the Autophage. That we get to discover all over the galaxy. To start with, they have a completely new story line for us to complete and explore the deep truths of the universe.

The Autophage come with their own missions that, upon completion, will allow us to unlock their unique language with over 100 new words, gain reputation for unique rewards, and even be able to build our very own voltaic staff. As we unlock more of their technology, we will be able to scan planets for their hidden areas and interact with the Korvax Monolith sites, extracting the secrets held within.

Space combat, which I have always found a little lacking, has also had some major changes. Now we are able to adjust the power modes in our ships, allowing us to customize how we fight. Do we need more shields, thrusters, or power for weapons? We can quickly change it up. Capital ships are now fully destructible, allowing us to reap even more riches, but they have also increased the shielding on the ships to thwart any would-be pirates.

Speaking of pirates, you will now be able to run into pirate capital ships, which prey on civilian fleets, especially in high conflict zones. These massive ships come with heavy armor and even more powerful long-range guns, such as heat cannons and high-powered weapons. But the bravest fighter pilots can now use speed and small size to fly beneath the dreadnoughts shields and into their superstructures, allowing them to fly Luke Skywalker style, destroying shield generators and their weapons from within.

Some additional treats that have been added are a rare new Atlantideum Multi-Tool that can be found and assembled. These multi-tools come equipped with a runic lens, which is a fusion of a mining beam and a cloaking device. A new multi-tool salvage station that can be found on the anomaly, allowing us to scrap other multi-tools, earning upgrades and other resources. New cosmetics such as Autophage robotic parts, face masks, hoods, and drapes can be earned and mixed with other customizations to make some truly unique looks, truly setting your traveler apart.

Even the Switch version of the game has received some love with some graphics enhancements with the AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 technology, providing high image quality and even dynamic resolution scaling, allowing us to have a more consistent framerate while playing.

There is so much in the update that I can’t even list them all, but I am eager to jump back into my cockpit and see all these new additions for myself.

Which of the updates are you most excited to see? Did you give up on No Man’s Sky? Or do you love all the constant updates? Let me know in the comments below.
