The open-world Sea of Thieves inspired survival game Salt 2: Shores of Gold developed by Lavaboots Studios has launched a new major update that includes new islands, quests, weapons, and more.
This new island biome type is a dark and foggy place filled with dead trees and gravestones. If you are squeamish of spiders this new place might not be for you as the new enemy that roams this part of the sea are giant spiders. However, if you do fancy exploring this damp location, you will find caves and other dungeons to loot and conquer. But watch out for the spider queen when you are down in the depths. Moonrock is returning from the first salt game. With this new minable resource, you can craft new weapons and other items. This new ore will glow during the night, making it easier to find. The marshlands come with a new set of quests to complete such as hunting for spiders.

For those who have beaten the vengeful spirit boss and thought it was too easy, you are in luck as it is now made more difficult. It will now also play boss music. When you forget to loot a corpse and leave the island, the loot will be stored in a bag you can come back later. Environmental damage no longer activates your armor’s abilities. Alos, four cooking recipes have been altered while most merchants now hold more stock while large islands have an increased chance to have a point of interest located on them as well as more ores for the player to mine.
The developers also revealed that they are working on their next update, which includes new ship models and more features to make the in-game map more useful.
How do you like the new Marshlands biome? Let me know in the comments.
