Space Chef Shows Off a New Cyclonia Map with Its Locations and Wildlife

Explore alien planets and hunt for the most delicious ingredients.

The developers over at BlueGooGames, a small dev team out of Sweden, are working on a new 2D open-world action adventure. In the game, you’ll get to explore alien planets, harvest exotic ingredients, and cook cosmic cuisine. The developers have released some more information on some of the upcoming features of the game.

First, they state that they have revisited the Cyclonian map, one of the first planetary maps since their Kickstarter. The full planet has now been implemented, along with a weather system ranging from calm skies to raging sandstorms that will challenge your navigational skills.

They have also added a lot more terrain features, such as meteor craters, hot springs, and even wrecked spaceships, to give the map a more dangerous feel. The map will start covered in a fog of war, and as you explore more of the map and find a new location, you will gain XP that will increase your exploration skill.

While exploring the map, you will also have to keep an eye on your Elemental Warning System on your suit, which will keep you aware of dangerous atmospheric conditions that can hurt you. The longer you stay in a dangerous area, your meter will fill, and once it starts flashing, you will start to see your health and stamina lower. The only way to combat the loss is to either leave the area or get creative.

By getting creative, you can either wear clothing that will protect you a bit but won’t negate the effect, other wearable gadgets, or even eat some foods that will have some life-enhancing features.

Even with such harsh weather conditions, Cyclonia is now also full of life, as all the local wildlife has been added. Each creature will have its own behaviors for you to study and learn to harvest valuable food items. Some animals will only be active during the day or night, and some special or legendary creatures will only spawn once you reach a certain level. One such animal is the Hornagle, a birdlike creature whose eggs are used to make a delicious omelet, but be wary as you might have become a meal for the mother while trying to get her eggs. Another is the Turtosaurus, which grows mushrooms on its back called Turthats and if you’re able to distract it, you might be able to pluck a few.

Besides the planets, even space has seen some more additions, such as other civilian ships you might encounter along the way; get in their way; you might get a honk or provide a witty comment as you pass by; and if you get even more famous, they might even say something very nice to you.

Gas clouds and meteors are now a thing as well. Use your handy drill to harvest some precious minerals from over nine different asteroid types, or use a gas skimmer to gather some carbon dioxide to add fizz to your drinks, propane to fuel your grill, or to make some special ammo for your guns.

Next on the list are Special Orders, which will encourage aspiring chefs to challenge themselves. Once you hit a certain level, Special Orders will be unlocked. It will provide you with a special recipe that’s not on your menu and will provide you with 5 extra minutes to gather the items you need to complete the order. If you are successful, you will get twice the value and twice as much reputation.

Once you get to a certain level, you will also be able to turn on your handy radio and listen to a weekly show that will let you know what the trendiest treat is, be first to market, and you will also collect a ton of money as well as even more reputation.

Lastly, when you jet set around the universe and time is short, you will be able to use the Ring gates, which will start off disabled, but you will eventually be able to find and unlock all four that will allow you to travel from the Inner Zone to the Far Zone with ease.
